Every year on December 3rd, the world comes together to celebrate International Day of People with Disabilities (IDPD). At HSMD, we use this day to honor the achievements of women and single mothers with disabilities and advocate for their rights.
The Significance of IDPD
IDPD is a day to:
- Celebrate the contributions of people with disabilities.
- Raise awareness about the challenges they face.
- Promote inclusion and equality.
How HSMD Celebrates IDPD
We mark IDPD with:
- Awareness Campaigns: Sharing stories and statistics to educate the public.
- Community Events: Hosting workshops, sports events, and cultural activities.
- Advocacy: Calling for policies that support women with disabilities.
A Story of Celebration
Last year, Amina, a single mother with a physical disability, spoke at our IDPD event. Her story of resilience inspired everyone present. “IDPD is a reminder that we are strong, capable, and deserving of respect,” she said.
