HSMD Hopes Marks Women’s Month with Inclusive SRHR Training for Women and Girls with Visual Impairments

As part of the Women’s Month celebrations, Hope for Single Mothers with Disability (HSMD Hopes) conducted a Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) training for single mothers and girls with visual impairments at Seeing Hands Rwanda in Kigali.

The training provided a safe, accessible, and inclusive environment where participants could openly discuss important topics related to their sexual and reproductive health. Key sessions covered menstrual health management, fertility awareness, family planning, prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), body autonomy, and informed decision-making.

By promoting accurate information and encouraging open dialogue, the training aimed to empower women and girls with visual impairments to make informed choices about their health, well-being, and future. The session also highlighted the importance of ensuring that SRHR information and services are accessible to women with disabilities, who often face barriers to healthcare and health education.

Women’s Month serves as a reminder that every woman, regardless of disability, has the right to access quality health information, make decisions about her own body, and live with dignity and equality. At HSMD Hopes, we remain committed to advancing disability inclusion and ensuring that women and girls with disabilities have equal access to the knowledge, services, and opportunities they need to thrive.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Seeing Hands Rwanda for partnering with us to create an inclusive learning space and support the empowerment of women and girls with visual impairments.

Together, we continue building a future where inclusion, health, and equality are realities for every woman and girl.
