Who are we?

Hope for Single Mothers with Disability is a local non-profit organization that supports single mothers and girls to lead a life that benefits their children and can contribute morally and economically to their community, this organization was founded in 2016, after realizing the challenges single mothers and girls with disabilities face

Our Mission

To ensure that every single mother with disabilities has all the rights as that of any other parent, is equipped and empowered with the skills,and information that will help them out of dependency and hopeless life.

Our Vision

To ‘A society where single mothers and girls with disabilities are self-reliant, live a dignified life free
from violence’.

Challenging discriminatory Policies and Practices:

Advocate for policies and legislation that address systemic discrimination against mothers/girls with disabilities, ensuring equal access to healthcare and social services.

Build Network to amplify their voices and advocate for inclusive development policies.

Build capacity within communities to challenge discriminatory norms and practices that disadvantage single mothers/girls with disabilities.

The great conference in Geneva by WGG Consortium to engage @Cedaw committee. Sharing Rwanda’s progress on equal rights and elimination of any discrimination against single mothers and girls with disabilities .

Our Programs

Our programs are designed to empower teen mothers and women with disabilities in Rwanda by providing them with the skills and resources they need to reach their full potential.

Gender Differenciated Research and Advocacy

We are committed to reducing gender disparities in economic opportunity in Rwanda, especially for teen mothers and women with disabilities. We do this by providing evidence and advocating for informed policies, incentives, and programs. Our goal is to enhance the employability and economic engagement of these marginalized groups.

Sustainability and Competitiveness of enterprises owned by Women

Empowering teen mothers and women with disabilities in Rwanda is essential to reducing gender disparities in economic opportunity. Our organization is committed to this goal, and we do this by providing evidence and advocating for informed policies, incentives, and programs that enhance the employability and economic engagement of these marginalized groups.

Empowerment of Adolescent Girls with disabilities

We conduct adolescent empowerment programs, every school holiday, to help the youth, from schools with persistent low academic performance, to pursue their personal and career aspirations. The program provides an opportunity for interaction with career counselors, educationist, professionals, role models and motivational speakers on matters relevant to their personal and career development

Our Team

Ms. UMURANGAMIRWA Marie Claire

Chaiperson Hsmd Hopes

Chairperson of HSMD with experience of eleven years (11) in Airline Industry, having Certified from Airport Operations, Ground Handling, Customer Care, Accounting, Sales & Ticketing, Marketing. And with International Relations knowledge ; hold a Bachelor degree in Business Administration & Finance and an A2 level Certificate in secretariate. She has passion in social development and disability inclusion.

Ms. Ninshaba Monica

Hsmd Hopes, Treasurer

Board member in charge of finance, she holds Bachelor’s degree in business administration with option in accountancy, she works with Get it Rwanda as Accountant. She has passion in disability inclusion and financial inclusion.

Ms. Tumwine Winnie

Executive Secretary

She holds bachelor’s degree in Business administrations option in marketing from university of Rwanda. she holds post graduate certificate in monitoring and evaluation from Makerere university in Uganda. She works with hope for teen mothers and girls with disability in Rwanda focus on programs, management, Disability mainstreaming. She holds several leadership positions in the inclusion of persons with disability.
